The Sorry Tale…
In 1992, Metal fanatic, Lyn "Red Skies" Price was in a quandary. The music he loved so much had been killed off by Grunge and he didn’t know what to do next. Music flowed still flowed through his veins but he had no outlet. Frustrated he joined the backing group of burley Welsh Valleys Girl Band, The Hirwaun Honeys where he met bass player “Wales’s top light entertainer” and illegal immigrant, Lee (Powser) Powell. For a while, everything seemed fine. Tours of Japan and Russia were extremely successful although Powser had to hide in a drum case when returning to the UK because of his lack of passport. In 1994 disaster struck when The Honeys lead singer Cheryl Coaltip ran away with Northern Dance Producer, Will-I-Fook. The two found themselves out of work and on the cabaret scene. They decided that the only way to make the music they loved was to form a new band, LowLife. Named after the abuse a Japanese promoter had thrown at Powser after a mistake with a long haired 20 year old Japanese female model. They spotted local punk singer Gary Law one night in a valleys karaoke dive and kidnapped him in a rolled up carpet. They locked him in the basement of RedRock Studios and constantly forced him to write words and sing the songs they were writing. The next thing they need was a drummer. Skies and Powser were using Steve Williams from Welsh Metal veterans Budgie. Unfortunately, one day Powser was cleaning his cage and Steve escaped. The overwhelming smell of millet too much! Joe Evans was on the run from Columbian gangsters after an arms deal went disastrously wrong when he supplied them with prosthetic limbs. An innocent mistake but not as far as Columbia’s finest were concerned. After hiding out in the Snowdonian Mountains for three months he started banging out SOS messages on an abandoned fridge. From his underground lair, Lyn picked out the unwavering tempo and awkward time signature and despatched a minion to rescue the terrified rhythm ace. Once locked away in the basement at Red Rocks, Joe and Gary were fed up on Fanta and Cauliflower Cheese and until the debut album was complete. When the drum parts were recorded, LowLife sold Joe back to the Columbians. Anything for a few quid! Now it is with us and ready for release.

Circa 2011... LowLife was born from the debris of the Honeys....Lyn, Lee & Gary and a drum machine thumping out the beat to write tunes.

Circa 2010...the Honeys were formed, Lyn Price, Lee Powell, Gary Law and John Lunn... a covers band that covered NOTHING !!
